During the course of my employment, I have seen a TRANSCRIPT OF A TELEPHONE INTERCEPTION BETWEEN A FOREIGN ADVISOR AND A HIGHLY PLACED AUSTRALIAN GUN OWNER.
XYZ says:
There are major differences between real science and bureaucratic science (BS). Real science involves living with the prospect of failure. In BS, failure is not allowed. The whole project is mapped out beforehand in forms such as Gantt charts. There are deliverables that have to be delivered to their political masters....does that sound like our friendly neighbourhood weapons branch, yet?
Those who desire further patronage never report a negative result or, indeed, a result at variance with the expectations of the sponsors.
ABC says:
We are at risk of losing all we worked for...
XYZ says:
Because it became impossible to take (name withheld's) advice, which was to become very sharply political. It is a political word, not a scientific one. Pronouncements by anti-gun activists within the community are given full coverage, while those from the weapons owners side are totally ignored.
ABC says:
I have pushed that , to lobby actively, sharply.
XYZ says:
I told you, you should have gotten into (reference removed) as a (inaudible)...but the gun owners are too Balkanized - small states, small minded...don't care what happens to someone else, only to themselves.
ABC says:
Yes, me first-ers. Did you read the Sunday Mail front page?
XYZ says:
No I didn't, what's it say?
ABC says:
Give up your guns...its about the RSL in Cooktown with its guns on display , one woman complained, and they had to take them down...one was made of wood , still has to be registed...now the Big Gun at Underwood will have to register their display .. it is 40 feet in the air...
XYZ says:
This is pseudo-debate, in which the Courier Mail specialises. A believer is put up against a non-believer, then cute editing ensures that the ratbag looks like the fount of wisdom and the other looks like a Neanderthal throwback. It only takes one ratbag to start a campaign. There is no coalition of gun clubs to lobby for reasoned debate in Australia. That is why the gun issue is a personal liberty issue, not an issue of weapon ownership.
ABC says:
An Ack Ack Gun!
XYZ says:
According to the principle of selectivity, as practiced by the Australian Media, ten thousand occurrences of “normal” conduct are ignored and the abnormal case seen through the timorous squint of a ratbag anti-gun activist is broadcast front page. Don't your Gun Club memberships see what's happening? Instead of pandering to your girl thingy primadonnas, you should put it to them like the men they wish they could be.
