As a collector, how often do you come across a piece and the seller has so little a grasp of its value, he asks for a price which makes it obvious that he thinks that Christmas has come early and that you are Santa Claus. We got these in the e-mail from a member. We won't tell you the circumstances of the sale, other than that the gun is "somewhere on Queensland's Gold Coast." There, that's narrowed it down to within fifty miles, if you're real keen. We've put the pictures here so that you can have a go at second guessing:- (a) what the bloke asking for it and (b) what you think its true value is. (c) whether it's worth all the effort.

The Gun concerned was one of a batch used on Bribie Island, 1943-45; They were then scrapped, and held at a scrap vehicle dealership in what is now Springwood (near the current site of the "Big Gun" Butcher shop ( another of the Bribie Island batch.)
Originally they had large wheeled axle sets, but these were sold off for "Timber Jinker" use in the early 1950s
The scrap yard was full of US and Aussie Armoured vehicles ( Staghounds, Ferrets, Jeeps, Studebaker and GM trucks, White scout cars, Bren Carriers etc as well as Normal (civvie) scrapped cars and trucks.
The Yard disappeared with the construction of the Pacific Motorway etc. and the redevelopemtn of the "Big Gun" industrial and shopping area along (old) Logan Road.
